What is the difference between two models of Canon digital cameras; “PowerShot” and “IXUS”?

I saw a picture of a camera in Canon web site that has written under it; “PowerShot SD770 IS (digital IXUS 85 IS)”.
Are those models same? and Are “PowerShot” & “IXUS” two labels on one product?
I asked this question of “Canon web site > contact-us part” , but unfortunately didn’t get any answer !

They’re the same thing..

They call it the PowerShot in the U.S. and in Europe they call it the IXUS.

The numbers for the two may be different but if they look exactly the same minus the lettering then well, they’re the same exact thing.
