Wanting to start inhome portrait studio?

I'm wanting to create some type of inhome portrait studio but am not sure what equip to buy. I'd like to be able to take portraits of my kids using different colored backdrops and props. (like how Sears or Jcpenney does)

I have a Canon Rebel XTI digital camera. Canon external flash and 300 zoom lens. Photoshop program on my computer and nice photo printer. What else do I need to purchase? Any other tips or advice?

Off camera flash/strobe or continuous lighting, backdrops, but mostly…

You need to have the ability to use the camera. Is this a hobby thing?? or a business thing??

If hobby, you can get material for backdrops and lighting from fabric stores, home improvement stores, etc…

Hope this is a start.

How do I get digital photo prints which display the date on them??

Hi, I have printed out digital pictures from my digital camera at my local supermarket before and I noticed they do not display the date. Is there any way I can print digital pictures with the date on them? On my computer hard drive where I store all my digital pictures from the camera, if I right-click on any photo and click on "Properties", it will always tell me the date on which the photo was taken – so obviously the information regarding the date the photo was taken has not been lost. But tell me, how can I get this date to print out on a normal photo print? Would I have to get my own mini photo printer (like an Epson, Canon, etc.) to do this? By the way, do those mini photo printers sold in the shops for home use print out dates on the photos?? I need to print a batch of photos with dates on as evidence to my landlord that the flat was already dirty and there were obvious signs of wear-and-tear when we moved in on the first day of tenancy. Thanks!
Sorry, I meant "Ex-Landlord".

All you need for the courts is a CD of the original image files (uncropped and totally unmanipulated). They will take a look at the file information and see the date listed on the EXIF portion of the image file.

Some advanced DSLR's contain a feature called Image Authentication which can be used in forensic investigations.

Which kind of photo printer do I need?

Last night I purchased the new Canon SD1100, and plan to make scrapbooks, etc. of all the pictures I take…so I need a photo printer. But I have little experience with digital cameras and printers so I'm hoping someone can tell me what they think is the best printer for that camera? The only requirements I have are that it's not TOO expensive, and allows me to print photos in atleast 2 different sizes.

Thanks and 5 points to the person who can help me out the most.

The least expensive way to have 4×6 inch prints made is at a lab … $.17 each vs about $.50 a piece if you print them yourself (plus the cost of the printer).

If you really want to print them at home, look at the Epson "R" series printers .. the have a cool option of being able to print directly on CD's and DVD's. I use a R260 to print labels on all my CD/DVD's … except for one off prints, I send all my image files to a lab to be printed for clients.

The Epson R260 prints on 4×6, 5×7, 8×10 and 8-1/2 x 11 inch prints as well as the metric A series photo papers up to A4 (210mm × 297mm).
